More About Waring
The Waring blender has been with us for over 70 years now and is still a favourite. The man responsible for the Waring Brand was Fredrick Malcolm Waring who was born on June 9, 1900 in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. As he grew up he loved singing and people say he was “the man who taught America to sing.”
But he had other talents too including a promoter and in later life the man behind the Waring blender.
In the 1930’s the inventor Frederick Jacob Osius contacted Waring in reference to his new invention the blender. Waring, a guy that loved innovation was immediately sold on the idea and offered to help to finance the development.
6 months later on and more than 20 thousand dollars worse off Fred removed the funding from the Osius project and remodelled the blender on his own, eventually launching it as the Miracle Mixer.
In 1938 the Waring Blender Corporation was born and simultaneously the appliance was re-named the Waring Blender. At first the appliance was very popular in hospitals and was believed to have assisted Dr. Jonas Salk create the vaccine for polio.
Fred Waring passed away back in 1984 at the location where the whole thing began, Penn State University. But his quality appliances survive today and not one of them is better respected or more well-liked than the Waring Blender.
