Cuisinart Smart Power Classic blender

This is a solid, middle of the road blender that sets itself apart from the entry level models without being remotely pricey. The Cuisinart Smart Power Classic blender certainly can blend, but what worries me is that the motor constantly puts out a smell like burning rubber.

I don't know if it is overheating, or if there are two parts rubbing against each other that aren’t supposed to be, but I do know from looking at other reviews that this is not unique to my blender. Other people have experienced the same with their cuisinary smart power classic blenders as well.

That being said, I have had this thing for over a year now and I use it 2-4 times every week. It does a consistent job every time and I have seen no sign of any long-term damage to the motor in terms of performance, nor has the faint smell gotten any worse. It just *is*, almost as if it is meant to be that way. I think it is rather odd and a bit unsettling, but considering the longevity of my blender I would say: Be aware of it, but don’t let it prevent you from buying this model.

Overall I would say this blender performs about right were it should, given the price point. It is a little more expensive than the entry level models, and I suspect it probably outperforms most if not all of them. I am just as certain that it does not perform as well as some of the $100, $200 or $300 models, but then again it doesn’t even come close price-wise.

Bottom line: The only thing out of the ordinary with this blender is a faint smell when you run the motor, but it doesn't seem to have any long-term problems and works as well as a blender this price should. If you don't want a bottom of the line blender, but don’t want to spend a lot of money either (and I suspect a lot of people fall into this category) then this blender is probably worth taking a look at.

I was a bit disappointed that in order to properly wash the jar you have to take it apart. It isn't difficult, but it is annoying to have to do every time I use it. Blends well though.
