Bosch hand blender

I was a bit unsure what to expect the first time I turned on this Bosch hand blender because I've had a number of hand blenders before and they usually don't work as well as I want them to think they should. This actually turned out to be a pretty good little machine though. It's got some serious power and the safety features (which are good, being safe is good!) don't make it too troublesome to use.

With the foot attachment I was able to crush ice for smoothies pretty well. That's usually a good test of a blender. Lots of countertop blenders don't crush ice very well. This one did a better job than most of those, and definitely better than other handheld models I've had experience with. I also have been using this for all sorts of stuff around the kitchen, including shredding onions and peppers for mexican night. It does a very even job and comes out great in just a couple of seconds!

I think the problem a lot of people run into (people who may have bought this and not been satisfied) is that you can't think of it the same way as a counter-top blender. You can't use it to make a batch of smoothies or frozen daquiris for a dozen people at once. Once you realize it is best used per-drink (in other words, crush one cup of ice at a time) you will find it actually works really, really well. In the end it probably takes almost as long for a large counter-top blender to evenly crush 12 cups of ice as the Bosch hand blender can do one at a time anyway.
